I set out this morning to roam the streets of Paris and see some art. The highlight was the L’atelier d’Alberto Giacometti exposition at the Pompidou. I’ve never seen such an exhaustive exhibition documenting an artist’s life, including letters, ephemera, articles, over 600 works, his studio … truly exhaustive. Even though Giacometti is best known for his sculpture, he is a fantastic painter. One of my favourite pieces of ephemera was an invoice from Brassai for some photographs he had taken of Giacometti’s sculpture.
