Outside of being the only sober attendee, the vibe at the Picnic is great. Unlike Oxygen, which is all ages, you need to be at least 18 to get in and only kids 12 and under are allowed with a parent. I strongly suggest setting up camp in Family and Quiet Camping IF you want a better night’s sleep. You will never escape the thumping of the bass entirely. There is EVERY type of food and supply in the dozens of shops and stands, so even the worst of planners will be able to survive. My €20 tent seems to be fine, though we haven’t seen any rain yet. The single wall tent does get very damp from the condensation alone. The highlight of Day 1 was Björk, who started with slower numbers, including favs like Unravel, but she brought down the house with a blistering version of Army of Me. I was against the barrier to the left of the stage with the bass rippling through my body Medulla style. LCD Soundsystem killed it with an endless version of Yeah, Yeah, Yeah. Unless you want to be at the front for main stage shows, you can find a good spot easily. However, arrive early for big name tent shows because they will close the entrance when they exceed capacity. The only thing I am pissed about is everyone has a camera. I easily could have gotten mine through security. And with that, a light rain begins to fall on the tent.
