One of the things I missed intensely from the States was TiVo. Like broadband, its hard to know how you lived without TiVo. No control over what I watch?! How barbaric. We did bring a loaded TiVo box with movies, but I couldn’t get it to work as just a recorder here.

Sky + doesn’t have as great a user interface as TiVo, but I can record two programmes at the same time, which I believe was a feature on the DirecTV recorders. Still, the main attraction is a series link for favorite shows and just the plain ability to record something and not have to stay up and watch it. I feel human again.

Now if Sky would just offer their satellite broadband in the Republic of Ireland.
