It wasn’t without it’s predictable moments, but the footage of the ships was impressive in Master and Commander. I never got the impression everything was a big CGI production. “A sailor’s life for me” was not something that crossed my mind at any point in the film. I’d imagine life was even worse in reality on these ships and the movie tried not to gloss over some of the rough bits. Enjoyable. Far from perfect.
