I could be a lot harder on The Shining due to the fact that in a past life I was a big Stephen King fan. Nicholson is already crazy and the film doesn’t portray his descent into madness. At times, his lines almost come off as black comedy (to me). The atmosphere Kubrick creates is great for a horror film. It’s been a number of years since I saw the film and I couldn’t walk away until it was over.
If you haven’t already seen it, this parody trailer is a must see.
