I’ll still have to file taxes in the States for the first half of 2006, but how cool is filing taxes in Ireland? So cool, you don’t have to file a return. That’s right. No paperwork. No signatures. No accountant fees. Done. You essentially apply for deductions or “tax credits” as they are called here at the beginning of the year. The credits are deducted from your pay automatically each pay period and you are done.

I’m not sure if this standard across all salaried jobs, but you get a salary advance two weeks into the month. No deductions, just a straight advance. At the end of the month, you get the balance of your salary, minus deductions and the advance.
