Mobile Cinema

26 January 2007 · No Comments

When we moved from Philadelphia to Bethlehem, the two things I missed the most were WXPN and The Ritz Theatre. You could listen to XPN on the Internet, and NetFlix helped satisfy my desire for independent and foreign films even though you needed to wait for them to come out on DVD. So, what were my hopes for independent film in the Northwest of Ireland?

On Thursday night I attended the Leitrim Mobile Cinema- essentially a big truck that unfolds into a hundred seat movie theatre!! The film series lasts 10 weeks and shows first run independent and foreign films. What a great idea, that should be replicated elsewhere. The pix aren’t that great from my mobile so you’ll just have to be there next week and see Pan’s Labyrinth with me again.

(Frankly, after looking at the Ritz site, the bill over the next ten weeks here is superior.)
