I haven’t personally gone to a restaurant two nights in a row, yet we considered a third night at Cammillo Trattoria. To begin with, the food is excellent and authentic. The owner, Chiara, and the entire staff obviously love what they do, and what they love is food. Not to mention, they make you feel welcome, almost like you are eating in their home. They cater to wheat allergies and had pasta and fresh baked bread for Lisa. The whole menu was available to her.
Our first meal on Friday was so good that we debated whether to return on Saturday, because we wanted to preserve the memory. However, Saturday night was even better and perhaps the best meal any of us has ever had. Alan, our waiter, suggested we try fried zucchini flowers. We also had warm sheep’s cheese with carmelised balsamic vinegar. Gabe had a fettucine with lamb sauce, and the coup de grace was Lisa and I sharing wheat-free fettuccine with white truffle. Amazing.
They make their own wine and olive oil as well.
In our minds, there is only one place to eat in Florence.
