Rome may not have been built in a day, but it was built using Travertine stone. We travelled through Arezzo (can’t we stop!) 70km to visit a Travertine stone quarry and manufacturing operation. This was the background for 20 design students to help the company and the region innovate new products for the material. The particular caves we visited will be empty in 10 years.
Back to Florence for the evening where I walked and walked and walked, scoping out Hotel Bonafacio for our next visit, and stumbling across Camillo Trattoria near the Ponte Vecchio for an excellent last meal. Can you go wrong with food here?
